Unfortunately our communities have become plagued with a continual increase in speeding vehicles. It seems that more people are becoming ignorant of roadway speed limits, even with clear signage. What is most frustrating is that a significant amount of these bad drivers are also members of our community and show an utter disrespect for their fellow community members.
Excessive speeding in many areas of Cape Cod is significantly dangerous because:
- Some roadways are poorly maintained
- Many roadways have winding curves with adjacent brush/vegetation
- The above mentioned roadways also have young children at school bus stops or playing in their front yards
This project has the following goals:
- Recognize the issue of vehicular speeding in our communities
- Hold people socially accountable for their actions
This project will accomplish these goals by creating calibrated Speed Detection Systems [SDS], which will also recognize license plates, as well as vehicle types (Make/Model). These SDS's will upload speed data to this site and then call out repeat speeders and their vehicles.
This data will also be provided to local police agencies to assist with targeted enforcement.
Please check back soon! We are actively working on the new SDS system and will be working on charting publications.
